unspoken
Director's Note
I have always been fascinated by people. Each individual life tells its own personal story. A common scene, as simple as a woman sitting alone on a park bench, is ordinary AND extraordinary. We can only imagine what has made her who she is and what is in store for her to make her whom she is meant to be. The story we share in "Unspoken" is simply that: ordinary and extraordinary.
"Unspoken" is unique in the way that it is told in collaboration with both actors and dancers. Actors portray the physical experience while dancers share the hidden depths of the emotional experience. Together we have discovered places that can't be explained through words alone and are often left unspoken - places where only raw movement can describe the indescribable. Every life shares the common factor of emotions, but every emotion is unique to the individual and never to be felt in the exact same way again. For the reason, a large portion of "Unspoken" is told through Improvisational Dance - various interpretations told by a different cast at each performance. These improvisations are raw and personal and never to be seen again … such is the fleeting nature of life itself. It is a bittersweet reminder to cherish each moment as they come. "We may never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory."
There are a few things we know in this life: We all love in countless ways, we cry with our whole heart, and we grow stronger through the silence of our heartbreak. And when all is said and done, we know we truly lived our lives because we felt it. Every bit of it. Good and bad, life is ours to hold dear. It is his. It is hers. It is YOU. That makes you extraordinary.
